Title:

Eat Well Be Well: Food as Medicine at Baptist Health

Date:

May 30, 2019

Start Time:

11:00 AM

End Time:

4:00 PM

Description:

Baptist Health invites you to explore how to improve your health by learning to use food as medicine at this special half day event.

Speakers:

Michael Greger, M.D., founder of nutritionfacts.org and New York Times best-selling author of How Not to Die, will present the latest in cutting-edge research exploring the role diet may play in preventing and even reversing our leading causes of death and disability.

Marco Borges, New York Times best-selling author of the Green Print, exercise physiologist and founder & CEO of 22 Days Nutrition, has inspired many celebrities to adopt a plant-based lifestyle and will discuss the important role diet plays on health outcomes.

Come out and learn how Baptist Health South Florida is leading the change in healthcare and using Food as Medicine. The first 100 attendees will receive starter plants from our organic Grow2Heal community garden at Homestead Hospital.

Health screenings for cholesterol levels, blood pressure, glucose and weight will be provided by Baptist Health West Kendall Healthy Hub. Attendees will learn ways to reduce health risks by choosing more nutritious food choices instead of using more medicine to treat conditions.

Take the Baptist Health Eat Well, Be Well Plant-Based 6-Month Challenge.

Sign up and start improving your eating habits. All participants will receive supportive resources to maintain healthy habits. Follow-up measures will be taken at the Seed Food and Wine Festival on Nov 9th. Participants who complete the full 6-month challenge will be eligible for prizes.

Meet-and-greet local vendors at our Plant-Based Community Expo, discover the services they offer to support a healthy lifestyle. Meet our Baptist Health Executive Chefs and taste their delicious menu creations. You won't want to miss out on this opportunity.

Admission Fee: $89, Includes a plant-based lunch provided by Table 55, a new farm-to-table restaurant.
