Miami Cancer Institute offers COMPLIMENTARY exercises classes to patients and caregivers that attend Miami Cancer Institute. If you would like to attend in-person please call 786-527-7680 or send an email to MCIEvents@BaptistHealth.net

Classes are also offered virtually to anyone interested in attending. To attend a class, simply use the unique Zoom ID for each class, and use "zoom" as the password in lowercase letters.

Gentle Yoga (Virtual and In-Person Option*)

10 a.m. | NEW SCHEDULE: Every Monday morning at 10 a.m.  - Meeting ID: 987 4869 0839

This is a slow-paced practice that combines gentle yoga poses, breath work, meditation, and strengthening & stretching the entire body. This class is an invitation to relax, unwind, and de-stress while also learning and or refining the fundamentals of a yoga practice. This class is open to all experience levels, although one should feel comfortable and confident with their abilities to get up and down from the floor. *Disclaimer: Please advise that in-person participation is open for Miami Cancer Institute patients only at a limited capacity, first come, first serve basis. If you are not a Miami Cancer Institute patient, you may attend virtually.

 

Mat Pilates & Dance (Virtual and In-Person Option*)

12:30 p.m. | Tuesdays - Meeting ID: 960 4090 4126

Class starts with a 45-minute Pilates Mat class and finishes with 15 minutes of joyful movements and dance.  Pilates exercises help improve our strength, mobility and coordination as well as our posture, gait and overall sense of well-being.  End of class dance invites us to let go and enjoy some moves to various ryhtmic styles.

Gentle Stretch and Relaxation (Virtual Only)

10 a.m. | Wednesdays - Meeting ID: 926 4646 3439

Perform a variety of gentle stretch, flexibility and breathing exercises to release, relax, and rejuvenate one's body and mind. Will also help increase range of motion for smoother, comfortable, fluid mobility; enhance posture and balance for overall improved quality of life. Special props such as balls, bands, poles, rings and chairs will be incorporated for variety and enjoyment. 

 

Chair Pilates  (Virtual and In-Person Option*)

11 a.m. | Wednesdays - Meeting ID: 920 4619 2345

You will learn ways to help keep your body active even while seated on a chair.  This is a Pilates inspired class using Pilates' principles of breath, control, concentration, centering, precision and flowing motion.  Our goal is to improve our movement and postural awareness, flexibility and mobility as well as our strength and balance.   We'll end the class with a brief dance movement to leave us refreshed and inspired. *Disclaimer: Please advise that in-person participation is open for Miami Cancer Institute patients only at a limited capacity, first come, first serve basis. Restorative Yoga (Virtual and In-Person Option*)

9:00 a.m. | Fridays - Meeting ID: 984 4458 6182 

Restorative yoga is a style of yoga that requires no muscular exertion; the entire class will take place on the mat and all poses will either be seated or lying down. Each pose is held for several minutes and deeply supported by props – blankets, bolsters, and blocks (or at home alternative such as pillows and towels). No yoga or meditation experience is needed and all levels are welcomed and encouraged. *Disclaimer: Please advise that in-person participation is open for Miami Cancer Institute patients only at a limited capacity, first come, first serve basis. Tai Chi

Join instructor Steve for an ancient form of Chinese martial arts used to calm the mind. This class consists of a series of slow and rhythmic movements that build strength and help improve balance. For more information and the Zoom Meeting ID click here.
